Online Store Setup

Not everyone has technical experience. If you do, or you want to try and figure out WordPress plugins, then feel free to use WooCommerce as the host of your ecommerce site. However, for the average non-technical person, or for someone like me who’s technical but would prefer to have features already set up, Shopify is the best option. Here are five specific reasons:

  1. You don’t have to know how to code, and you don’t have to set anything up. You’re paying for that convenience after all. WordPress offers a lot of flexibility. However, the WooCommerce plugin itself doesn’t really do much to your site besides adding ecommerce functionality; you’d have to add multiple separate plugins and themes.
  2. Another feature you get relating to this is a user-friendly designer with drag-and-drop functionality. You still need to know how you want to set up your site, but at least you don’t have to set up the setup tool. This reminds me of Visual Studio; I’m coding in it, but I don’t want to code the coding application.
  3. When something inevitably goes wrong, you want to know that the support you receive will be fairly reliable. Being a business rather than a plugin, Shopify offers a wide variety of support options.
  4. Search engine optimization can be a difficult and tedious process of setting up your website, and you need to do it otherwise you’re site won’t show up in search results all that often. Another benefit of paying for Shopify is that SEO will be automatically added to your site.
  5. Even though Shopify has a lot built for you already, you can still choose to expand its functionality with Shopify apps. They essentially work the same as WordPress plugins, but you’ll have a much easier time finding an app that works and does what you’re looking for in the Shopify store. This is because not everything on WordPress is created for ecommerce.
