Website Coding

Website Review of piercemfg.com

I again employed the help of my dad to think of a website, so I will be reviewing a section of the Pierce Manufacturing website. The Ascendant Class of Aerials section has navigation at the top for the entire website, and there is also a navigation bar that comes with you as you scroll for navigation to the different parts of this specific section. Then, there are a couple of overview paragraphs, and next to these are two advertisement videos that use the video coding element. Between this part and the next, you can view a picture that appears to be under the main content of the website. On the rest of the website, there are navigation links for viewing specific fire trucks, a comparion feature for trucks, and FAQs. In addition, more navigation in relation to the rest of the website presides at the very bottom.

Everything is laid out in a clearly understandable way, including, as was mentioned, sections within this section of the website. Also, the coloring is not overwhelming since most of the page is white with a little black and red where it is needed. I also like the fact that the website is layered with a picture in the background that is viewable through the mentioned window. Finally, as for the videos, I think there are two possibilites as for why they used the video element (or, for that matter, why any website would use the video element). They either thought there would just be no point in embedding a flash file if they could just keep it on their website, or they wanted to make sure most people are able to view their videos since Flash support has ended.

Validating this specific page produced a list of 74 errors and warnings, with most being errors, although thinking about all the other websites I have reviewed, this is not too large of a list.
