Website Review of golfthewoods.com and blacksheeppubandgrill.com
Both of these websites are for local restaurants, but one uses the fluid design while the other uses the jello design. The Woods is the one with the jello design, and the Black Sheep is the one with the fluid design. The first thing you notice about the Woods is that it's mostly black; there's barely any color. Also, the jello design really limits how much they can have on each part of the website. However, the website can be used for basically anything related to the Woods, and the usability is really nice. There is a navigation bar at the top, and under some of the sections, there is a dropdown list for more specific navigation. And, when you move to a different part of the website, it keeps you on the same page, and the content just drops down and replaces whatever was there.
Moving to the Black Sheep, there is much more color, and the fluid design allows more content to be put on each page. The navigation works ok, but a really negative aspect of this website is, because of the fluid design, it's kind of hard to keep track of where you are and where things are located. And everything is kind of big, which allows very little to be on the screen at a time. Also, when you scroll down on the website, the navigation bar comes with you as a little slit on the top of the screen, which further limits the space you have to see things on the website.
I validated both the home pages, and there were actually a couple hundred errors on the Woods website while there were only 35 on the Black Sheep website. However, even with the black color, jello layout, and long list of errors, I think that the Woods has the better website.
